An innovative approach to language software for aphasia
Here are the basic steps:
1) Open the Export Settings Screen to make some decisions about where to keep exported files and what to use them for.
2) Now you will see an Export Button on the main screen whenever you run a workbook. It is outlined in red (lower right) in the screenshot here.
3) Record your speech and put some "purple beans" in the Story Row. If desired, type captions/subtitles into the Caption Box, outlined in TURQUOISE in the screenshot. You will only see it if you selected this option in the Export Settings Screen.
4) Then click the Export Button. The files, picture, and captions will be copied to your Export Folder, and the progream will create whatever additional files are needed for the export option you have selected (email, handheld, web posting, movie making).
Depending upon what choices you make in the Export Settings Panel, the program may also create a playlist file (which tells computers to play all the exported pages of a workbook, in the correct order) and write html files that you can put on a website.
When you play an exported mp3 file, you will hear the user's spoken message. You should also see the picture from that workbook page (if the page has a picture) and (if you selected this option in the Export Settings Screen) a text caption (or "subtitle") that you can add on the workbook page.
The screen shot here shows an exported workbook page playing in Windows Media Player (top) and iTunes (bottom).
Some older software for playing mp3 files may not show the exported picture, but all you may need to do is to download a newer version of the sound file player. Windows Media Player and iTunes will virtually always show the pictures. QuickTime players may not.
