An innovative approach to language software for aphasia
SentenceShaper has been thoroughly tested in Windows 2000 and Windows XP, so if your computer runs these operating systems you do not need to read further.
Preliminary testing on Vista (the Home editions) indicates that the program functions normally on Vista, with one exception: Vista doesn't let you go into Windows Explorer to look at SentenceShaper files if SentenceShaper is installed in the "Program Files" folder.
Below we describe a simple workaround, and note a few other minor issues that arise with Vista. The next SentenceShaper release will be fully Vista-compatible, and everyone who has purchased SentenceShaper will be offered the opportunity to upgrade to this version (which will have additional functionality such as built-in therapy modules) at a special discount.
Here are the current Vista issues and recommended workarounds:
1) On Vista, we recommend that you not install SentenceShaper in the "Program
Files"
folder. (During the installation, you will be asked where you want to install
SentenceShaper.)
2) During the installation, you may see warning screens asking whether you
want to continue with the installation or whether you trust this software.
Just tell it to continue (and don't worry, our software is thoroughly checked
for viruses and can't hurt your computer!)
3) For people who want to create SentenceShaper messages to email: As long
as you install SentenceShaper outside of the "Program Files" folder,
then you will be able to send SentenceShaper productions as mp3 attachments.
However, Vista won't let SentenceShaper write a copy of the most recent mp3 to the c drive (as described in the Manual), so you will unfortunately need to browse through SentenceShaper user folders to locate the mp3 file you want to send as an attachment.
