Activating SentenceShaper if THIS COMPUTER isn't connected to the Internet can be done in 2 ways...
We apologize for the inconvenience of asking you to activate your copy of SentenceShaper. However, by protecting us from unauthorized distribution of our aphasia treatment software, this makes it possible for us to keep the price of the program quite low.
1. By transferring files with another computer (faster method)
If you have access to ANOTHER computer that is connected to the Internet, and if you have a way of transferring files between these two computers (via CD, floppy disk, memory key, etc.), here's what you do:
1. Locate the "SentenceShaper" folder on the user's hard drive. During the installation process, it asked you where to install SentenceShaper. If you didn't type in a new location, then SentenceShaper folder is located either directly on the c-drive or in the Program Files folder. So you will open the folder c:\SentenceShaper, or whatever folder you installed the program to. Double-click on SShaperStartup.exe to open the program and when you see the button to activate the program, click it, even though you know it isn't going to be able to get online. This action of yours will create the file needed for subsequent steps.
What will happen is this: After you click the "Activate" button, you will see a screen which says "IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED SentenceShaper:". Click "OK" at the bottom of this screen, and you will then see a screen asking for your activation key. Type in your activation number, which you will have gotten when you paid, and click "Next". Now you will see a screen which says "It looks like this computer isn't connected to the Internet." Click "OK," exit out of SentenceShaper, and go on to Step 2 below.)
2. Next, copy the file named "sentenceshaper.LIC" from this folder onto your CD, floppy disk, or memory key. Note: this file will only be in the SentenceShaper folder if you have already tried to activate the program on your computer, and if SentenceShaper has detected that the computer is not connected to the Internet, as described in Step 1.
3. Now go to a computer which does have access to the Internet (it need not be your computer and can be at a library, friend's house, etc.), and insert the CD, floppy disk, or memory key into this computer.
4. Now access the Internet and go to http://www.softworkz.com/offline
5. You will see a screen with the words "Offline activation - Upload .LIC file". Click on "browse", and locate the file "sentenceshaper.LIC" on your CD, floppy disk, or memory key. Then click "Upload file”.
6. Now you will see a screen which will ask you for your activation code. It will also ask you to create a password, and to type in your email address (if you have one). The reason it asks for your email address is so that it can send you your password if you need it at some future time.
7. Now click "Activate." Assuming that the activation is successful, you will now see and click on a button labeled "Download License (.CDM) File". You will be given instructions on how to download a file called "sentenceshaper.CDM" onto your CD, floppy disk, or memory key.
8. Now take the CD, floppy disk, or memory key back to the computer with SentenceShaper on it and copy this file "sentenceshaper.CDM" into the SentenceShaper folder.
9. When you have copied this file "sentenceshaper.CDM" into the SentenceShaper folder, SentenceShaper will be permanently activated.
2. By mail
1. Follow the steps in 1 and 2 above to copy the file "sentenceshaper.LIC" from this computer onto a floppy disk, CD, or memory key.
2. Now mail your floppy disk, CD, or memory key to Psycholinguistic Technologies, Inc., 93 Old York Road, Suite 1#447, Jenkintown, PA 19046.
3. We will send it right back to you with a new file on it ("sentenceshaper.CDM"). Please note that no matter where you are in the world, we will pay the return postage via air mail.
4. When you have copied this file "sentenceshaper.CDM" into the SentenceShaper folder, SentenceShaper will be activated.
